Principle Of The Religion Of Islam

Islam means submission unto the will of God and those that submit unto the will of God are called Muslims.

Note: ALLAH is an Arabic word which stands for the One and Only God, who is Self-Subsisting; Eternal; neither Slumber nor Sleep overtaketh Him; the Source of Peace and Perfection, the Gurdian of Faith, the Exalted in Might, The Irrestible, the Supreme; no vision can comprehend Him but He comprehends all visions; who begets not and who is not begotten and there is nothing like unto Him that can be imagined. Such is ALLAH our Lord and your Lord: the Only One deserving of worship; worthy of all Praises.

1. The declaration of Faith which reads La Ilaha Illallah Muhummed-Ur-Rasul Lul-Lah (There is no other object of worship but Allah and Mohammad is the Messenger of Allah)
The Muslims also believe in:
a. All the Prophets and Messengers of Allah including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and Jesus;
b. All the revealed Books of Allah, of which Holy Quran is the last and perfect one;
c. All the Angels who are spiritual beings of Allah;
d. The Islamic doctrine that the power of action proceeds from Allah and every human being is morally responsible for his own actions;
e. The Day of Ressurection and the Day of Judgement

2. Salat, obligatory Prayers, five times a day.

3. Saum, obligatory fasting during the Muslim month of Ramdan. This fasting takes the form of abstaining from all foods, drinks and sensual pleasures from dawn to sunset.

4. Zakaat which is an obligatory tax on savings above a prescribed quantity.

5. Haj the Pilgrimage to Mecca if one has the means of performing it.
